Special Projects

Would you like something a bit special? Maybe you'd like us to build you a custom time-trial machine or breathe new life into a much-loved classic.

At Fulford Cycles we've carried out a wide range of custom builds and restorations. Everything from building a race bike for an award-winning competitive cyclist to mounting a petrol engine on an antique tandem.

Contact us with your ideas and requirements, or drop into the shop for a cup of coffee anda chat.  See below for some photos to get those creative ideas flowing...

Raleigh Chopper

Restoration of a Raleigh Chopper MkII. We turned a frame and a box of bits into a fully functioning all-original classic.

The Folding Fixie

So you need a folding bike because you're going on the train, but you've still got too much self-respect to ride anything with gears and a free-wheel... The solution - convert a Giant Halfway folding bike to a fixed gear.

Before: a standard Halfway... nice enough, but...

Halfway Original

This is the pile of components we removed (just imagine the weight-saving!):

 Halfway bits

We got rid of all the gear-shifting-related stuff (and everything else extraneous), put a screw-on fixed sprocket on the back wheel, respaced and redished the wheel back to the centre-line. The rear brake was removed (you don't need one on a fixed) and the front brake was replaced with the XT V-brake that used to be on Jim's II Pompino. The chainset was swapped for a TruVativ, the bottom bracket was swapped to sort out the chainline and the bar was swapped for a 'flipped and clipped' road bar.

And the end result...

 Fixed Halfway

Disclaimer: Just because we did this doesn't mean it's a good idea. Much the opposite. Taking a hacksaw to bits of your bike isn't something that should be done lightly, and probably invalidates all sorts of guarantees and warranties.

My mother used to say it would all end in tears and she's probably right. Just don't say I didn't warn you...

TCR Trinity Time Trial Bike

We built this time trial bike around the race-proven Giant TCR Trinity frame. The rest of the bike comprises a Giant carbon fork and aero seatpost, Oval carbon concepts aerobar, Mavic front wheel and HED rear disc wheel. The groupset is Shimano Ultegra.
